Camera Position

Profitis is a village and community of the municipality of Volvi, in the Thessaloniki regional unit of Central Macedonia. According to the 2011 census, it has 935 inhabitants. The local community of Profitis also includes the settlement of Mikrokome.
Profitis is a beautiful village with traditional architecture, located just 38 kilometers east of Thessaloniki. It received its name from the village church, dedicated to Prophet Elias. Its residents are native Greek Macedonians and continue to preserve their customs to this day, such as the Lazarines, the Arapides, the Chelidona, and various wedding traditions.
During the Ottoman period, a Greek school operated in the village.
Profitis is also the birthplace and place of action of the Macedonian fighters Evangelos Zervos, Apostolos Spyrou (both of whom were arrested and imprisoned by the Ottomans), and Paschalis Tsoukalas.
