Karyochori Eordaia Camera
Karyochori is a beautiful settlement in the Municipality of Eordaia, in the Prefecture of Kozani, in Western Macedonia. It is built in a green valley at an altitude of 710 meters.
According to the 2001 census, it had 597 inhabitants.
During the period of Ottoman rule, the village was called Kouzlouki. The name came from the Turkish word kaz, meaning “walnut” — a fitting name, as the area was full of walnut trees.
In 1928, the village was renamed Karyochori. The name comes from the words karya (walnut tree) and chori (village), meaning “the village of the walnut trees.”
A small village with a sweet history and a character that has endured through time.
